Dog bathing and drying
Dog bathing in our professional hydrobath, using different shampoo that is natural, kind and suited to your dog’s skin. Drying - each dog is dried to best fit their need taking in consideration their breed and coat type using our professional dryers whilst gently using brushes appropriate to your dog’s size and coat; this helps remove any remaining loose hair. This service is also ideal for in between full grooms and it can help keep your dog’s coat in top condition and matt-free.
Styling your dog’s coat by clipping is popular for all breeds. We can clip according to your requirements. Each clip style will be tidied up with the scissors to give even cleaner finish. We recommend a ‘clipped’ every 6-8 weeks with the owner brushing regularly in between visits. Scissoring - Scissoring is a specialist technique needing an expert hand, shaping and sculpturing the coat in to your desired style. Compared to clipping, scissoring is a time consuming procedure which can reflect in the price. Ideal for curly coats, such as Poodles, Bichon Frise and cross breeds we recommend a ‘scissored’ very 3-4 weeks with the owner brushing regularly in between visits.
Stripping or hand-stripping is the process of pulling the dead hair out of the coat of a non-shedding dog, either by using a stripping knife or the fingers. A hard, wiry coat has a cycle where it starts growing and then sheds as it reaches maximum length. Hand-stripping coordinates the shedding and makes room for a new coat to grow. Stripping is the proper grooming method for most terriers, spaniels, and many other breeds. The hair is removed with either a stripping knife or stripping stone, with the top coat removed to reveal the dense, soft undercoat. When done correctly, the procedure is painless. Many dogs enjoy having their hair stripped, especially when they are introduced to it as puppies. Hand stripping dogs shouldn't be done if dog has been castrated as it changes the coat texture and can therefore hurt the dog.
When dogs come in to the salon we always preform a health check, even as young as 10weeks old we will do this to get your puppy ready for when it ever does needs the vet. This includes checking their eyes, ears, skin, teeth, gums, ears, nails and bottom. These health checks often pick up things that owners are unaware of such as hidden lumps and wounds. Owners will always be made aware of any findings I may have.
Regular brushing and combing helps keep your dog's coat and skin healthy and looking good and to get the full benefits, you need to brush all the hair and not just the top coat. Come in to the salon with your puppy and I will personally show you how to brush and comb properly to keep your pup in the best condition and also get your puppy ready for a lifetime of grooming.
